Mission
The Hawaii Soccer Academy is the elite soccer program in the state, raising the bar in the Hawaii soccer community, and will provide professional pathways, university and college pathways, and career guidance for all of the Hawaii Soccer Academy athletes statewide.
Hawaii Soccer Academy, or ‘H.S.A.’, will be providing top facilities for our athletes to train island wide, with private quality natural grass surfaces. The Academy coaching staff will provide an organized, structured, and age-appropriate soccer curriculum to their athletes.
The Academy coaching staff consists of 34 dedicated, hardworking, role models to lead the athletes, including many former professional and collegiate athletes. Included in the staff are Nationally “A” and “B” licensed coaches, goalkeeper specific trainers, personal trainers, agility trainers, and a nutritionist. All H.S.A coaches will be required to meet coaching education criteria set by the Academy, including Grassroots Coaching Licenses, as well as U.S. Soccer Licensing and Diplomas.
hank you for attending Hawaii Soccer Academy Tryouts!
Tryouts:
All year round we allow kids to tryout and join one of training sessions. We also hold annual tryouts for both our west and east teams in the first weekend of June. Although we would like to keep every child that comes out, we may have to make some cuts per each respective age group. Don’t worry, we have a Keiki Academy for any beginners looking to sharpen their skills! We will do our absolute best to find a comfortable home and positive environment for your child to learn the game of soccer! The season for most teams starts in mid to late August so now is the time to join!
The Club and our Mission:
Hawaii Soccer Academy is in its ninth year and has grown significantly over the years, and now provides a home for 35 teams both boys and girls all across Oahu. Our Club staff believes the measure of a great soccer club lies in the quality and performance of its athletes as well as staff on the field, but equally the character and contributions to the community off the field as respectful, hardworking boys and girls.
The Hawaii Soccer Academy Mission is to (1) Prepare all our athletes for success, through hard work and focus, both on and off the field. (2) Promote a high sense of personal achievement. (3) Through soccer, encourage leadership in the local Hawaii community.
Coaching:
Hawaii Soccer Academy understands the importance of a high-quality coaching staff; thus, we have brought in a strong core of nationally and state licensed coaches, and former professional players to lead our athletes for 2023 and beyond. Our Club staff works together to organize each respective athlete and team to ensure proper age-appropriate regimens. We will ensure progression and development throughout each step of their growth. Our qualified staff will embrace and encourage both technical and team tactical understanding, proper strength and agility training, as well as understanding the importance of nutrition and sports psychology.
After your child is selected for a team, each respective coach will contact you with registration information, practice times, and can answer any other questions you may have!
Our staff will work with our parents to build an environment that is healthy for the kids to learn and grow together and understand the enjoyment and importance of being part of team sport.
Common Questions:
Q: What is club soccer?
A: Club soccer is the next step beyond AYSO and i9 recreational leagues and is the most challenging level of youth soccer in the state of Hawaii. It is for those kids and families looking to take the next step in training, nutrition, and technical and tactical understanding of the beautiful game.
Q: What is Hawaii Soccer Academy?
A: Hawaii Soccer Academy is a home for many children and their families across Oahu. We offer club teams for children born in the years 2006- 2017 on the girls’ side, and 2007-2017 on the boys’ side. We strive to be the most “quality” club in the state and that doesn’t mean the “biggest”. We teach each child three very important words, that are ingrained into their minds and are reminded to them on a regular basis. Those three words are: FOCUS. HARD WORK. RESPECT. We feel this mantra leads our athletes, families and coaches down the path to success, both on and off the soccer field. We believe in commitment, overcoming adversity, self-responsibility, and team first mentality.
Q: How often/when and where do the teams practice and train?
A: Hawaii Soccer Academy coaches look to train our teams at a minimum of two days a week and maximum of four days a week, with games on the weekends. Some teams may also have additional practices before major tournaments and/ or big games. Practices take place across the island including Waipio, Kapolei, Hawaii Kai, Kakaako, Kailua, Diamond Head and more, and we will do our best to find you a team or program close to your home!
Q: When/where are games?
A: For our club teams, games are typically played on Saturdays or Sundays, and are played at Waipio Soccer Complex. We hope to start a league at Hoopili in the future!
Q: Does Hawaii Soccer Academy offer camps or clinics throughout the year?
A: Yes, we look to hold camps and specific clinic throughout the year. We also travel more than most clubs on the island! We believe taking our teams to compete on the mainland is the best way to test themselves and get better!
Q: How much does it all cost?
A: We look to be one of the most affordable clubs on the island. We believe our quality staff and commitment to our keiki and families we give great value in the cost of playing for Hawaii Soccer Academy. You will be responsible for the following fees: PLEASE SEE OUR TRYOUTS PAGE FOR DETAILED PRICING FOR 2022-23!
Our yearly Membership Fee covers the whole year (Fall, Winter and Spring). This helps to cover the cost of operating and maintaining a quality soccer club over the course of the year. This fee helps us pay for many things including field rentals, training equipment such as goals, tents, benches, cones, pinnies, etc. It also helps with our club operating costs including our coaching education, website, marketing, office supplies, signage, etc. This also includes our training fees for our coaching staff.
Uniform Cost: We will not be requiring returning parents to buy new Uniforms in 2023. For new players you will be responsible to buy the Under Armour uniform kit of two game days jerseys, two game day shorts, two game day socks, and two practice shirts, for $250.
Communication and team information is done entirely through an application called TeamSnap. Once you’ve been accepted, you’ll receive an invite to join TeamSnap. It has both an online and mobile application platform. We use this for all team communication and organization including practice and game schedules, emails, and payments. (This cost is included in Membership fee)
Once selected to the team, we must collect the membership fee by June 31st in order to ensure a spot on the team.
